Welcome to the website of the West Tennessee Iris Society. We're a fun group of iris enthusiasts located in Germantown, Tennessee. Our club is an affiliate of the American iris Society, Region 7.
In cooperation with the City of Germantown, we created and now maintain the West Tennessee Iris Society Garden, where we grow more than 400 varieties of iris for the public to enjoy. Conveniently located next to the train tracks at Poplar Pike and West Street, this educational garden is planted with newer hybrids of Tall Bearded Iris, Tennessee's State Flower. Peak bloom time at the garden is April 15 - May 15.
Each year, the club hosts a sanctioned American Iris Society Flower Show, where stems of named cultivars are displayed and judged. Additionally, there are 20 Floral designs featuring iris. The Iris Show is usually held the third Saturday of April and is open to the public.
The club also hosts an annual Rhizome Sale, usually in August, where iris roots are sold to the public.
The club meets on the third Tuesday of January, February, March, April, June, September, October and November. We welcome guests to these meetings, where we feature a speaker and a program of interest to gardeners, or a potluck dinner in February and September.
We hope you will explore our website and enjoy the many pictures of beautiful iris. Check out the links to the American Iris Society and to AIS Region 7's website for more information about irises.
